Assessment and Collection Dates
Kentucky property tax law establishes the assessment date of all property as January 1st of each year. All property assessment information is processed and maintained solely by the Property Valuation Office of each county and the Kentucky Department of Revenue. Further detailed information regarding assessments and property records in Ohio County can be found at http://www.ohiopva.com/
Unless otherwise advised, Ohio County property taxes become due and payable annually to the Ohio County Sheriff's Office beginning October 1. The following collection dates apply:
2% Discount October 1 through November 1
Face Value November 2 through December 31
5% Penalty January 1 through January 31
21% Penalty February 1 through April 15, 2020
All delinquent tax bills for the preceding year not paid to the Sheriff by the close of business on April 15, 2020 will be transferred to the Ohio County Clerk for further collection proceedings. After this date, additional penalties and interest will be assessed to these unpaid tax bills. No prior-year taxes can be collected by the Sheriff's Office after the April 15 transfer.
Address Changes and Duplicate Bill Requests
Tax bill address information is maintained by the Ohio County Property Valuation (PVA) Office and cannot be altered by the Ohio County Sheriff. If you need to make permanent changes to your property tax mailing address, please contact the PVA office at 270.298.4433.
Our office recommends that anyone who has not received their expected tax bill by October 10th of the tax year to request a duplicate tax bill. Duplicate tax bills can be mailed, faxed, or emailed at any time during the collection period upon request. PLEASE NOTE: A request for a duplicate tax bill to be sent to an alternate address DOES NOT constitute a permanent change of address for future tax bill mailings.
